– ONION | SOĞAN –

Onions have been cultivated for over 7,000 years. During the Roman Empire, athletes are said to have eaten large quantities of onion because it was believed to lighten the blood.  Roman gladiators were rubbed down with onions to firm up their muscles. Today, onions are eaten raw, cooked or pickled. Simple salads of finely sliced onion are a common accompaniment to meat dishes.
