In addition to corn, the word mısır is also the name for Egypt. The actual name of the world famous Spice Market is Mısır Çarşısı which literally translated means Egyptian Bazaar. In season in October and November, one third of Turkey’s corn is grown in the Marmara region. Süt Mısır, grilled corn, is a popular street food in the region and throughout the country.
